I think the Nano Tanks or Small Reef tanks are
overlooked by many, including myself, I would think having a few 2 or 3
gallon tanks with just a few specific species scattered throughout the
house would look great. And they are a great alternative for those who
have the reef bug but can not set up a large reef tank due to various
circumstances or wish to just have a piece of the reef on your desk. In
my opinion, a nano tank is not a difficult thing to achieve or maintain
as others will have you believe, yes, there are concerns specific to
small tanks, but easily taken care of. A nano tank can be as equipment
intensive as a large tank or it can be as bare bones as possible, for a
desk top tank, it would not make sense to add alot of equipment due to
space concerns, I dont think the boss would understand why there is a
20 gallon sump on the floor under your desk. The following links will
give you alot of good ideas on how to set one up along with how to
maintain one. Remember, a Nano Tank is also a great way to provide a
home for specific species that require their own habitat, such as sea
horses, mantis shrimp, octopus and so on.

Air Stone Bubble Trap
- If you have a nano tank, or not able to use a sump, this method
provides a great way to provide aeration without having the bubbles
being blown around inside the aquarium nor making a mess of your lights.
